It would be nice and easy if there was one simple remediation solution for each color of mold and we could just give you easy instructions for:
But unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
Within each color category and type of mold found in indoor or outdoor locations or in different materials, or in your vehicles, there are different directions for removing, killing, cleaning and remediation. And there are different product recommendations and applications as well.
Mold is a member of the Fungi kingdom and is the most common type of fungus on the planet, with hundreds of thousands of different varieties. Most are beneficial when growing outdoors in nature and most are destructive when they come into our homes, either tracked in or flying in on airborne spores.
Some are toxic, but even those that are not can impact human health and damage or destroy our property. They grow quickly, multiply rapidly and spread easily -- eating up and destroying whatever they land on, creating stains, a musty odor and destruction in their wake.
Mildew is just another name for mold.Technically it is a type that grows outdoors on plants, but people often use the term for fungi when referring to moldy patches or odors indoors as well.
By whatever name you call it, these fungi come in a multitude of colors, shapes, textures and types and all are destructive in some form or another.
If you see or smell or suspect the growth of mold and mildew, test it and remove it as soon as possible, always wearing protective equipment, following product directions EXACTLY, properly ventilating the containing and ventilating the space you're working in, and hiring a professional remediation contractor for areas of infestation larger than 10 square feet or when dealing with toxic molds.
